A Little Light Snow

We got a bunch of snow on Saturday. I have no idea how much, but it seemed to snow all day long. Mike commented that it felt like it stopped for maybe an hour.

The yard was left covered in a fresh layer of undisturbed white.

When I got home from work today I happened to glance outside in the back yard.

path

Seeing this can be quite exciting, and kinda freaky at the same time.

Exciting because I am so curious to see what made this little trail! Is it a rabbit? Maybe a squirrel? Are squirrels out and about in the winter, or do they hibernate? Maybe it’s the tracks of a dog? But, whose dog? No one’s dog wanders our yard. Could it be a mouse? Cause that is gross. I hope it’s not a rodent.

Then I start to creep myself out. I don’t want some foreign animal wandering around my yard. Worse yet…..those tracks lead right under the patio steps. Ewwww! Is it still under there? Because I stood on those steps to take these pictures.

Hmmm….maybe a closer look.

It’s a cat’s print, isn’t it? Do you know how much cats freak me out? Have I mentioned my neighbors plow a path in the snow around their house so their cat can roam around, even in the winter? It visits the cat across the street. Who does that? Who plows a cat it’s own path in the snow? Have I mentioned I have thrown my own children in front of me to protect me from cats? It’s true, once in a park and once coming down my street after a walk. I can’t stand cats. They are sneaky, they claw at you, they hiss at you…..they do all kinds of things that if I dog did it, you would get rid of it. Seriously, if a dog swatted at you and growled at you, you would get rid of it. Not cats though…..people think it’s funny. Yeah, well, not so much.

And I think those are cat prints going right under the steps of my patio.

Nasty.

Please tell me it can be another animal.

As a side note, Noah started gun training last week. It’s a huge commitment, as it should be. Mike goes with him for the 3 hour sessions at Cabelas and he comes home with homework. This week he had 52 pages to read. GULP!

Here’s where I caught Mike and Noah last night after Noah’s shower…..

Apparently he needed a little help from dad on his homework. Cute, huh? Someday Mike will just turn and smile when a camera is pointed at him and then we will have nice pictures of the father and son. Instead he looked up, looked back down at the book, and ignored me. Nice.

Off to see a doctor about my vertigo tomorrow. Nervous about it. Trying not to be. Not working.

Happy Monday,

New Curtains and a Chicken

Finally curtains in the living room! I saw these curtains at my neighbors house and loved them. She had them in another color, but the quality was amazing and they were ON SALE! Woo Hoo!

Here is the boring window before………

It looks less black than I thought it would. I actually wanted these curtains in chocolate and they were sold out. Everywhere you see black there would be chocolate. But, now that they are up….I like the black better. My frames and lamps in this room are black and I like how it all goes together.

A BIG thank you to my mama! I had to get them in a super long length and she hemmed them for me. They look awesome and I love them! Thanks Mom!!

Oh, and rumor has it someone chickened out and DIDN’T go to the back-cracker on Monday. I will just let you guess who that was…….

OKAY it was me!! I just couldn’t take it. It was stressing me and I was sick of worrying about it. Plus, I KNOW my vertigo is from my ear issues. Even the eye doctor said to me, “You know this is inner-ear related, right?”  Yes, I know, it’s all inner-ear related, so the chiropractor wouldn’t have helped anyway. If I didn’t know the source of my issues I would have tried it. I promise. Pinky swear.

Peace and Love,

Stuff

So, we went to church today. In a snowstorm. We are on the other-every-weekend plan for church so I will be VERY happy next weekend that I battled the weather to get there this weekend and don’t have to go! Then we hit the Shriners pancake breakfast. All in all, a good morning.

Eye doctor told me my eyes were perfect, wonderful, super. He said this many times. Then he apologized for not being able to help me with my vertigo. Nice man.

Going to the chiropractor tomorrow. Mike is coming with me and we will get treated together. Romantic huh? I am scared out of my brains, to be honest. Many, many times I have considered backing out. However, I just have to try everything to see if something will work for my vertigo. My doctor appointment is just 10 days away. Scared about that too.

We got new curtains for the living room. We haven’t had any all the years we lived here. Because those windows are on the same wall as the patio door, I had to replace the patio curtains too (no big deal, they needed to be replaced). I think it will add a lot. My mom is hemming them, so I can’t show you them up. HERE is a picture of them. I got them in black because they were sold out of chocolate. They are super thick and hang nice.

Conferences for both boys went splendidly. Hard to believe that was it for conferences for the year! Both teachers had great things to say about both kids so the parents were very pleased. I am so looking forward to 6th grade and seeing Noah everyday next year. He is too! It will be weird to have Connor at Washington all alone.

It’s been in the 80’s where we go for spring break. Man, that vacation cannot come soon enough. Hurry up March!!

Looking forward to a Monday off tomorrow! Sure makes Sunday night much more enjoyable. I see Brothers and Sisters and a glass of wine in my future.

Peace,

LB

Hope your Valentine’s Day was as nice as ours!

We enjoyed a nice dinner, a few presents, and dessert (which we never have so it was awesome!).

Update

I have been taking no pictures! Then I feel like I shouldn’t blog. But, there are some things I want to keep track of.

Connor finally lost one of his eye teeth. He needs to lose the other one so that we can see if his front teeth will go together. If not, braces ASAP. For now he gets to stop wearing his bottom retainer, which rid him of his under bite. On a side note, he told us his tooth was lose and pulled it out all in a matter of 10 minutes. Consequently, the tooth was a bloody mess so I asked him to rinse it off before putting it under his pillow for the tooth fairy. Naturally those buggars become slippery when wet and he lost it down the drain. SOOO….we wrote a note (and can I just say I haven’t laughed so hard as I did composing that with Mike and Connor. It wouldn’t translate well into writing, but trust me….there were tears it was so funny) explaining to the fairy the situation. The next morning I hear Connor say, “Well, that note was for nothing!” and he informs me that she took the note and left no money! WHAT?! I said that just couldn’t be and helped him search. We found it on the floor.

My parents come home from Florida today. I missed them. Especially when I am sick. A girl just needs her mama. I seriously could never live away from them. They had gorgeous weather while in Florida. Let’s hope it stays until we can get there in March.

I have made appointments to try and get my vertigo figured out. First, due to the last two episodes coming on while correcting papers……I decided it was time to get my eyes checked. I have never had an eye exam. Do I think there is a relationship? Not really. I have had ear “issues” for 20-some years. I know the vertigo is related to it. BUT, it’s worth a try. I go tomorrow.

I also have an appointment to see a doctor that specializes in Meneiers Disease. They got me in on March 1st. That is a heck of a lot better than 6-12 months like Mayo offered. Plus, I don’t NEED to go to Mayo. I don’t know why I never considered going somewhere else. Good thing my husband has brain cells. He called, he set it all up, he took care of me. I also had an appointment with a chiropractor. I ended up cancelling it because I found out she didn’t take insurance. Next week I hope to make an appointment with another one. In my research I have read some people have some luck with vertigo and chiropractic care. I have never been, so again, it’s worth a try. This week has been okay. No BIG spells, but I still struggle correcting papers. I have to watch when I look up too quickly. I have to watch when I bend over. Basically I just try to move slower with everything I do.

This weekend we hope to get to a mall to get some valentine presents (we will all get Twins gear for our trip) and to get a cover for my Nook. A nice dinner out also is on the top of my list! I am tired of being cooped up in the house and missing out on all the fun stuff that we normally do on the weekends. Hoping to stay well so I can get out and enjoy some normalcy.

Supposed to get some warm weather for the next few days. I think it’s just what the doctor ordered to improve my attitude and mood!

Happy weekend!

Mayo Conversation

ENT nurse-type-person: “We will be sending you extensive paperwork in the mail we would like you to fill out.”

Me: “Okay.”

ENT dude: “After filling out the documents, please mail them back with the provided envelope.”

Me: “Okay.”

ENT dude: “ Once we receive your paperwork they will be reviewed by our motion analysis department and someone will call you to set up appointments.”

Me: “Got it.”

ENT dude: “And just so you know, this department is very busy. These appointments are out 6 to 12 months.”
