Football ~ Noah

Football season is nearing the end and it was time to try and get some pictures of Noah before the season was over. Try being the operative word as I don't have lenses that can catch things that go fast or things that are far away.

Noah is #30 and is a running back on offense and a corner back on defense (I just had to ask Mike about those positions because I have no idea).

We have been lucky and have had great weather for the games. They are played after school around 4 so they don't take up any of our weekend, which I love. He even rides a bus to away games....without me.

Injuries have been limited, with only a sore muscle or ankle after the games.

They are still undefeated (with one tie) and have two games left in the season.

He let his girlfriend wear his jersey for homecoming.

One thing I know about watching the games....you miss a lot. Unless you get up and follow each play, you miss stuff. Because I don't walk up and down the sidelines, I don't have the anxiety I thought I would have because I don't see every play. Works just fine for me.

We play Faribault this week. Apparently they have quite the player on their team, #21.  The team has been preparing all week on how to stop this kid.

We will see if they are able to do just that.

They end their season in Albert Lea. This makes it nice for Mike since he works there.

Maybe I can talk the husband into dinner at Wedgewood Cove afterwards. I mean, I girls gotta eat after all.

I think we get two weeks off before basketball gears up. And that, my friends, is a L-O-N-G season.

Enjoy the week,
LB

Taylor's Falls

Finally  a night away!

I have been friends with Jeri since I was 6-7 years old and she was 5-ish. I lived behind her and we spent every single day together for years and years. We would have sleep-overs, I would go to her relatives with her, and I would attend church with her because her dad was the pastor.  Pretty much all of my childhood memories are centered around Jeri and her family. Movies, songs, toys (Strawberry Shortcake dolls, barbies) always remind me of my days with her.

Through the years we have remained friends. She even moved back onto the street we grew up on, right across the street from my parents! She married a great guy and we really enjoy getting together with them. With our kids getting older, it's getting easier to plan things and get together more often. I love that we can go a few months without talking, but then pick right back up where we left off without missing a beat.  Time spent with both of them is easy, laid-back, and stress free.

We both got married Labor Day weekend a couple of years apart. Every once in awhile we celebrate our anniversaries together. This year they had the great idea to check out Taylor's Falls and go on a paddle boat dinner cruise.

It is quite a jaunt to get there (couple of hours) but we just talked nonstop and the time flew by. Plus, the scenery was amazing.

The dinner was nice, but the company was better! 3 hours went by in no time and soon it was all over and we were headed back home.

We got back into town and stopped for one last cocktail before calling it a night, I haven't been to bed that late (after 1:00 AM) in a long time. I was one tired girl the next day!

Thanks for a great night out, Jeff and Jeri. We are very lucky to have you as friends!

Happy Fall,
LB

Furteen Years Old

Noah is old. Really old. That makes me ancient, and ya know what? That's okay.

THIRTEEN. How did that happen?

I swear I pay attention. I am involved with him (like when I had to help him with Religious Education homework this week and it was all about how it's okay to have relations with your servants to conceive a child. Um, what?!). I listen to him, do stuff with him, and respond to his needs. And to repay me he changed from this.......

To this....

I guess I am supposed to sit back and accept that he's getting older and moving into TEEN territory. Ugh, I am not ready for that. So, I made him sit on my lap, I make his hug me all the time, and I make him tell me stuff he probably doesn't want to talk with his mom about.

13 things about Noah:

1. He has a girlfriend. Yup, started last year with this stuff.  How does one get used to that and consider it normal. Get back to me with an answer to that one, will ya?

2. He is in football for the second year in a row and has scored five touchdowns in the last three games. Gulp. How does one get used to seeing their kid tackeled and trampled? Get back to me on that one too.

3. Godfather's is his favorite and McDonalds as well. Good thing he is as skinny as a rail. I say enjoy the junk food as long as you can. (I can say that because he is such a good eater and eats lots of healthy things too. If he didn't, I probably wouldn't like his favorite restaurant choices.)

4. Still plays baseball and basketball. This mama likes those non-contact sports better.

5. Is doing awesome at the Jr. High. I can check his grades whenever I want and it's straight A's so far with NO help from us.

6. Moved downstairs to the huge bedroom and it's like his own pad down there. He loves it.

7. Got braces for the second time before school started. Poor boy just wants to eat an apple like a normal person.

8. Spends lots of time playing Minecraft and NFL 2013.

9. Got a NICE basketball hoop for his birthday present.

10. Did not have a birthday party for the first time.....hence the extra money to buy a nice hoop. (Man, those things are expensive!)

11. Still aspires to be a pro-baseball player.

12. Is kind and sweet. Just got a phone call from a friend telling me so. I hear it all the time. Proudest thing anyone can ever say to me about my kids.

13. Is forever my wee one.

I love you Noah Michael Budach.

Thank you for making me proud and being mine!

Love,
Mom

Grandparents

Our kids are so lucky to live in the same town as their grandparents. I love that they will grow up really knowing them and not just seeing them once a year.

As I look around baseball diamonds, basketball courts, concert seats, or football fields you can be sure the Budach/Heide clan will be taking up the most room. Rarely does a game go by that they miss it. Even when I tell them they can miss a game, they won't. Out of town, early mornings, twice a weekend, driving over from another grandkids game....they are there.

I have never paid for a regular babysitter and I don't suppose I ever will at this point considering Noah is almost 13. Our parents have always wanted to spend time with our kids and have those special sleep-overs. My kids have fond memories of popcorn and movies, trips to Target for a toy or two, water park visits, and lunches at McDonalds. You know your kids are spoiled when they receive a Wii for Valentine's Day from the grandparents because "we would have spent that much on candy and stuff anyway". I always laugh at that one!

The amount of time my babies spent being watched by a loving grandmother so their own mother could go to work and not worry a single second about her children is too enormous to even describe. I still tear up thinking about how I can never repay her for those years. My kids were so lucky to have her. Especially Connor as he was the youngest.

I miss out on a lot of what goes on in school with the kids simply because of what I do for a living. I know I can always rely on our parents to be there for our kids on those days. They like it and my kids always know someone will show up for them.

Grandparents day at school? Better bring in extra chairs for our kids.

THANK YOU to Dave & Cindy, Dick & Nancy for being amazing people in our kids' lives. We love you all!
