Finally a night away!
I have been friends with Jeri since I was 6-7 years old and she was 5-ish. I lived behind her and we spent every single day together for years and years. We would have sleep-overs, I would go to her relatives with her, and I would attend church with her because her dad was the pastor. Pretty much all of my childhood memories are centered around Jeri and her family. Movies, songs, toys (Strawberry Shortcake dolls, barbies) always remind me of my days with her.
Through the years we have remained friends. She even moved back onto the street we grew up on, right across the street from my parents! She married a great guy and we really enjoy getting together with them. With our kids getting older, it's getting easier to plan things and get together more often. I love that we can go a few months without talking, but then pick right back up where we left off without missing a beat. Time spent with both of them is easy, laid-back, and stress free.
We both got married Labor Day weekend a couple of years apart. Every once in awhile we celebrate our anniversaries together. This year they had the great idea to check out Taylor's Falls and go on a paddle boat dinner cruise.
It is quite a jaunt to get there (couple of hours) but we just talked nonstop and the time flew by. Plus, the scenery was amazing.
The dinner was nice, but the company was better! 3 hours went by in no time and soon it was all over and we were headed back home.
We got back into town and stopped for one last cocktail before calling it a night, I haven't been to bed that late (after 1:00 AM) in a long time. I was one tired girl the next day!
Thanks for a great night out, Jeff and Jeri. We are very lucky to have you as friends!
Happy Fall,
LB
